Vintage Design
A stunning 20th Century credenza finished in pollard oak with the addition of polished nickel edges and hardware. This piece has four drawers and a cupboard at either end. The reverse side is also finished in the same style so this piece can be used anywhere, adding style and elegance to the home.
Pollard Oak represents the wood extracted from oak trees subjected to the practice of ‘pollarding.’ This ancient method involves selectively pruning the upper branches of a tree, fostering the development of a dense crown of branches and foliage. Originating in medieval Europe, pollarding endures as a contemporary strategy for maintaining uniform tree heights in urban environments. Through this pruning process, the tree develops a distinctive lump or ‘burr,’ resulting in a visually captivating swirling pattern when the wood is cut for veneer.
