The Pop Art offset lithograph print is produced by Te Neues Publishing Company in cooperation with The Estate and The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, printed in Germany in 1992 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1983 titled ” San Francisco Silverspot Butterfly “.

This is a rare opportunity for true Warhol fans and collectors as this coveted image offset lithograph Pop Art print is long out of print and very scarce to find.

When the state of our planet and the fate of its inhabitants became a cause for alarm, Warhol created art works to reflect that concern. His 1983 ” Endangered Species ” portfolio represented a new subject matter for him. The complex and dazzling color combinations make the animal images so irresistibly beautiful that one cannot help becoming involved in the environmentalist message conveyed.

In 1983 Warhol created a series of artworks that portrayed endangered animals from around the world. Using brilliant colors characteristic of his signature style, and poignant expressions suggest the animals fate, Andy created a dynamic tension between art and reality.

The rare vintage offset lithograph collector’s Pop Art print measures 9 1/2″ W X 11 3/4″ H, with an image area of 8 1/4″ W X 8 1/4″ H. It is printed on high quality smooth finish paper stock with the official ” AW ” Foundation seal of authenticity printed on the print.

It is in excellent ” like new ” clean vintage condition with very light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.

Deok Sung Kang, Composition, 1990s, Etching https://www.dexpuis.shop/product/deok-sung-kang-composition-1990s-etching/ https://www.dexpuis.shop/product/deok-sung-kang-composition-1990s-etching/#respond Thu, 26 Sep 2024 14:14:32 +0000 https://dexpuis.shop/product/deok-sung-kang-composition-1990s-etching/

Etching print, with aquatint and matrix for color by South Korean artist Deok Sung Kang, made around 1990. The works of this artist, although tending towards abstraction, are actually inspired by nature. They illustrate a very personal vision of everyday objects and phenomena. The creative brilliance of this artist is widely recognized.

In this case, the work is divided into two zones, the first one starring a red color, depicting a pair of red roses using a quite realistic technique. However, in contrast, a wider area of intense blue color inspired by natural motifs and punctuated by a red stain.

About the artist

Deok Sung Kang is a painter and printmaker of South Korean origin. He studied Fine Arts in his native country, although he later attended the École de Beaux Arts in Paris and, later, in 1989, he settled in Madrid, where he continued his studies at the Complutense University of Madrid. The highlights of his work as a painter are his engravings, often using rice paper as a support.

Most of his works have been exhibited in fairs and exhibitions in Spain, but he has also made some in his country, as in the Art Museum of Seoul.

About the technique

The origin of engravings in Asian art has its foundations in the knowledge of printing texts on wooden plates, around the 8th century. Over time it evolved and this new art became accessible to the majority of the public, opening the doors to the enjoyment of art and collecting, which until then had been limited only to merchants, rich warriors.

Etching is a type of engraving, which is made using a metallic plate (iron, zinc or copper) as a base, which is covered with a light layer of a protective varnish or acid-resistant wax. The engraving artist draws with a stylus on the varnish layer, reaching right up to the metal plate. The plate is then immersed in etching, hence the name, a solution of water and nitric acid, which corrodes the copper in the areas where it was not protected by the varnish. The immersion time determines the depth of the line.

The metal plates engraved with this technique can be printed with the desired ink color, prepared by combining various pigments and binders.
