Vintage Design
Beautiful authentic 18th century Italian tower turret clock mechanism. This mechanism was used for large clocks and bells you find up churches and public towers to keep time for the Community. The mechanism is built in a forged iron box structure with wrought iron crowns and wheels as well as the two central wood wheels. The timekeeping was controlled by a pendulum, through a so-called ‘anchor’ escapement, with weights on the wooden wheels that provide the energy for the turning of the crowns and the functioning of the time of the watch as well as the ring of the bells. The shape and dimension of the mechanism perfectly allow for a glass top to make it an important console or side table.
