1980s Gunnar Cyrén Dansk Silverplated Penguin Paperweight Ornament

Offered is a vintage (and rarer) Dansk Designs brand modernist penguin animal figure silver electroplated on zinc paperweight designed for the company by Gunnar Cyrén circa the early 1980s.

A Swedish glass artist, silversmith, and industrial designer (1931-2013), Gunnar Cyrén worked for Dansk during the 1970s and later created a series of these silver-plated animals that became highly collectible because of their attractive minimalist stylized forms.

It bears its hallmark stamped on a felt-bottomed underside “DANSK DESIGNS – JAPAN – GC (for Gunnar Cyrén).

The penguin measures: 1.625″ W x 1.5″ D x 3.75″ H
