A very nice mantel clock in the Neo-Grec taste cast and assembled by the F. Barbedienne for sale through their catalogues, it incorporates the movement of clockmaker Charles Boye and features bas-relief plaques of Ancient Greece on the three outward facing sides. Two flank the circular dial, these featuring on the left two relaxed men talking with a young woman, on the right a solitary man offering something to two young women while a man supporting himself on a crutch listens intently. On the sides of the case, one panel shows a warrior and two other men and a horse in the center, the other showing another horse being walked along by a man and woman while a woman and child stroll ahead.

The circular dial is black in the ground with applied golden Roman numerals. The body of the clock is polished black marble with numerous cuts and curves, raised over animal feet with a parcel gilded trim along the underside. On the top of the clock are two small holes where an ornamental bronze would have been mounted.

Measurements: approx. 24″ W x 10″ D x 8 1/4″ H
Condition Report:
Two holes in the top from where a sculpture used to surmount the clock, scratches and seams to the black marble on the top, seams in two corners above the feet, no pendulum or key and movement is untested.
