Vintage Design
Rare pair of Model 251 “Cowhorn” armchairs by Danish designer Knud Færch made at Slagelse Møbelværk in the early 1960s. The chairs are made from solid teakwood and oak and has never been restored. They retain the original finish with a breathtaking patina. The seats have never been reupholstered and retain the original wool textile. The 251 is an iconic chair in Danish furniture architecture and is in its design both true to the design trends of the 1960s and the designer Knud Færch’s fundamental ideas – furniture that both invades and creates space. The sculptural design is crafted from best quality wood with the highest standard of workmanship, which is evident in the chair’s extravagant joints and brings the furniture to a whole new level. Both chairs are stamped underneath. Danish designer Knud Færch (1924-1992) made a career as a furniture designer in the 1950s and 1960s. A student of Finn Juhl, Færch created many distinctive pieces of wooden furniture, such as the Cow Horn chair.
