DESCRIPTION
A man and woman dressed in white academic gowns embrace while floating above the Ohio State University campus. A golden halo, bi-plane, smiling sun, and God’s feet appear in the sky above the couple.
An ink and pencil preparatory drawing titled Last Tango in Columbus, with appliqué corrections on the figures, also exists. The composition is similar to Mars and Venus – Last Tango in Columbus.

THE ARTIST
Sidney “Sid” Chafetz was a print-maker who created etchings, lithographs, and woodcuts. He graduated from of the Rhode Island School of Design and L’Ecole Americaine des Beaux-Arts in France, then taught at Ohio State University from 1948-1982, where he was instrumental in establishing the printmaking program in the Department of Art.
His honors include two Fulbright Fellowships, a Louis Comfort Tiffany Award, and a Ford Foundation Grant.
Major repositories of his work are held at the Museum of Modern Art, the Library of Congress, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Columbus Museum of Art.

CONDITION
Print is in excellent condition.
For protection, it is matted and hinged to a backing board with linen tape. Mat has some marks.
